Stand-Alone Mode

When the computer at the front desk or the server computer cannot communicate with a pair of lanes (or multiple pairs of lanes), the said lanes show a lightning bolt in the All Lanes window of Conqueror.  If you are in the heat of the action and there is no time to troubleshoot the issue, putting the lanes in "stand-alone" is your best option.  At least, the "stand-alone" mode allows the lanes to be opened directly from the bowlers' console.  This way, you keep renting the lanes and make money.  Just process the payment through the POS window in Conqueror.

Stand-alone for one pair of lanes

1) Head to the back of the lanes and locate the 3QT/HUB metal box of the pair of lanes with the No Comm error.

2) Unplug the network cable located on the top of the 3QT/HUB.

3) Unplug the black power cable on the bottom left side and wait about twenty seconds.

4) Reconnect the black power cable.

5) Go back to the front and wait for the pair of lanes to restart.  Once it has fully restarted, use the buttons on the bowlers' console to open a lane in open play (one lane) or league play (two lanes, swap lane). These options are displayed on the screen and each has an associated number. Then, follow the on-screen steps to enter the names of the bowlers.

Caution: For lanes that only have a basic console such as EasyKey or Fly, use the down arrow to add a bowler and write his name. Press the OK key only when the names of all bowlers have been written.

6) Once the party has finished playing, hit the menu button.  Select the STOP GAME option that is normally displayed on the screen.  This will allow the next group to open the lanes in open play or league play as in step 5.

7) To re-establish communication between the pair of lanes and the Conqueror computer or the server computer:

  • reconnect the network cable to the top of the 3QT/HUB;
  • unplug the black power cable from the 3QT/HUB and wait about twenty seconds;
  • reconnect the black power cable.

The reason why the pair of lanes was initially put in stand-alone was that there was no communication between it and the Conqueror computer or the server computer.  Therefore, it is quite possible that communication will not automatically be restored after completing these three steps.  It is therefore necessary to try to find the cause of this lack of communication. See the following document to troubleshoot the No Comm issue: EN-ConquerorX-NoComm-LightningBolts.pdf

Stand-alone for one pair of lanes

1) Head to the back of the lanes and locate the switch (usually, a little blue box named Netgear).  Depending on the number of lanes, it is quite possible that there will be two switches. For example, for a bowling alley with 20 lanes, there may be one switch for lanes 1 to 10 and another for lanes 11 to 20.  The network cable on the top of each 3QT/HUB is plugged into the switch.  For this 20-lane bowling alley, if there are two switches, there is a third switch that unites the other two.  There must be at least 6 cables connected to each switch (1 to 10 and 11 to 20): the cable coming from each pair of lanes, so 5, and one connecting to the third switch).

For a small 6-lane bowling alley, there is only one switch to which there is a minimum of four cables are connected (one for each pair of lanes, so 3, and one that connects to the Conqueror computer or the server computer).

2)  Unplug the power cable of each switch.

3) On the 3QT / HUB of each pair of lanes: On lanes 1-2, disconnect the black power cable on the left side at the bottom of the 3QT / HUB and repeat for each pair of lanes.

4) On the 3QT / HUB: Go back to lanes 1-2.  Reconnect the black power cable of the 3QT / HUB and repeat for each pair of lanes.

6)  Once the party has finished playing, hit the menu button.  Select the STOP GAME option that is normally displayed on the screen.  This will allow the next group to open the lanes in open play or league play as in step 5.

7) To re-establish communication between the pair of lanes and the Conqueror computer or server computer:

  • reconnect the power cable of all the switches;
  • unplug the black power cable from the 3QTs/HUBs and wait about twenty seconds;
  • reconnect the black power cable of each 3QT/HUB.
